Balding TreatmentGoing bald is a traumatic experience for most of us. In many cultures hair, and different hairstyles, are some of the criteria people use to determine if someone is ‘beautiful’ or not. Therefore, it is not strange that many people feel extremely upset when they notice they are losing their hair. Social stigmas make this worse for females than for men. Interest in balding treatment is at an all time high in our modern society where people are playing closer attention to physical appearances.

In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hair line and baldness on the top of the head. Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair can become thin over the entire scalp. Mostly it comes with aging, when your body loses its ability to replace hair hair that falls out in the normal cycle of hair replacement.

Other causes of hair lost might include:

*Hormone changes

*Sickness

*Genetic factors

*Serious burns

*Traumatic experiences

One balding treatment that has been around since the 1950s, beleive it or not is surgical hair replacement. This balding treatment involves several rounds of surgery where a surgeon takes tiny patches of healthy skin with hair and transplant them to a bald area. Typically only sixty to a hundred hair plugs will be transplanted every time, and the whole process might take a year or two. The cost is very high, so it’s not an option for those of us working for a small salary.

Depending on your age, the extent of your baldness and your personal preferences, there are a few other alternatives available.

Certain types of medication, for example Minoxidil and finasteride have been proven to be beneficial to many people. Corticosteroid injections can be given to a patient who suffers from sudden, inexplicable hair loss (a condition called alopecia areata).

If hair loss is not associated with aging, but caused by an underlying condition, the first step should be to treat that underlying condition.
